RESI 2017 is set to be the most important yet. How can it not be? The sector is not only grappling with the shock outcome of the general election, it is also having to get its head around Brexit and, of course, the ramifications of the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
It truly is time to put our housing in order. To that end, Property Week has lined up the biggest names in property and politics to assess the housing landscape in the wake of the election and appointment of Alok Sharma as housing and planning minister. We will also investigate the impact of Brexit and ask what lessons need to be learned from Grenfell.
In keeping with the theme of Modern Methods of Disruption, we will be running a stream of content dedicated to proptech for the first time. Build-to-rent will also be on the agenda, as will stamp duty and the international arena.
We are also delighted to announce that the Housing & Finance Institute is partnering with us and will be bringing several local authorities along.

1 Politics and planning
We will examine what the appointment of Alok Sharma means for the housing white paper and debate stamp duty, the growing role of local authorities, the burgeoning build-to-rent sector and how planning can be unlocked to help rather than hinder housing delivery.
2 Grenfell Tower lessons
We will be asking how building standards and fire safety regulations need to be improved in light of the Grenfell Tower fire and what lessons the property industry needs to learn, particularly with regard to buildings that have been converted under PDR.
3 The proptech revolution
The theme of this year’s conference is Modern Methods of Disruption and we will be hearing from some of the biggest disruptors around in Speakers’ Corner, sponsored by Osborne Clarke.
For the first time at RESI, we will be running a parallel stream of content, which will be dedicated to all things proptech. That means that a whole new crowd of speakers and delegates will be attending the event. 4 The international dimension
The sector has embraced modern methods of construction (MMC) over the past couple of years and it is arguably driving the growth of BTR.
But there are also lessons to be learned from overseas. We will be showcasing the best-in-class initiatives of leading international players as well as assessing how MMC is evolving in the UK. It is also set to be a key talking point at an exclusive developer round table, which will be attended by some of the UK’s biggest housing developers - who you will be able to meet and network with afterwards.
