Peel Hunt has made two senior hires to its real estate division.
Carl Gough has been appointed as a director in the broker’s corporate real estate team, and Matt Saperia has joined as a real estate analyst in its equity research team.
Gough has 25-years’ experience in the UK real estate sector and joins from The Lazarus Partnership, which he helped co-found in November 2013. Before this, he worked in real estate teams at Oriel Securities, Matrix and Cazenove prior to its merger with J.P. Morgan. Between 2001 and 2004 he was co-head of the pan-European real estate team at Credit Suisse, having previously held roles at UBS and HSBC.
Saperia, who also joins from Lazarus, is a CFA holder with 10 years’ experience in equity research, having previously worked at Oriel Securities and Citi, after spending five years running a £1bn real estate fund at AEW Capital Management. Prior to this, he was an equity analyst at ABN AMRO in its real estate team.
Steven Fine, chief executive of Peel Hunt, said: “We are delighted to welcome both Carl and Matthew to our growing real estate team. With more than 35 years’ experience between them, they bring a wealth of expertise and insight to our business, along with their enviable reputations in the real estate sector.
“Both will be hugely valuable to Peel Hunt and our real estate team as we build on this year’s significant transactional activity and further expand our offering and client base. These appointments are testament to the positive momentum we are seeing across our business, particularly as we focus on further increasing our market share and cementing our position as the leading small–mid cap research house in the City ahead of the implementation of MiFID II next year.”
