Tissue manufacturer Accrol Group Holdings has agreed to lease 368,400 sq ft of industrial space at the M58 Distribution Centre in Skelmersdale in the largest industrial letting of the year so far in the North West.
Accrol has taken space at Orbit Development’s distribution warehouse scheme to support its production of 18m units of toilet, kitchen and facial tissues per week which it supplies to some of the UK’s largest retailers including Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Morrisons and Booker.
The newly refurbished warehousing facility at Skelmersdale was strategically selected for its immediate road links to the M58 and close connection to the M6 motorway. The new warehousing will house finished goods and provide central distribution facilities to all Accrol’s UK customers, allowing the firm to consolidate its existing warehouse facilities.
It will support production from Accrol’s recently opened 168,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Leyland which increased the company’s total converting capacity to 143,000 tonnes a year.
Orbit Developments divisional director for Merseyside Dennis Dwyer said: “This is the most significant industrial letting in the North West in 2017 to date. Skelmersdale is an excellent logistics location with its proximity to the M6 and Port of Liverpool and the letting not only proves this, but also demonstrates the demand in the market for quality industrial premises.”
The joint agents for the scheme are CBRE and Knight Frank.
