The Blackmore Group has appointed Ricky Poonia, formerly of BNP Paribas Real Estate, to lead its real estate team.
At BNP PRE, Poonia was head of the residential capital markets and investment team, which he established in 2016. There he advised on several forward funding and forward commitment projects predominately focusing on the emerging private rented sector and the purpose-built student accommodation sector.
His remit at Blackmore will be to establish and identify strategic development, investment and joint venture opportunities across the group.
Poonia will report to managing director Patrick McCreesh and will be based at Blackmore’s new London office at 91 Wimpole Street, which opens this week.
The group is currently expanding its investment property portfolio in the south of England and has already acquired two sites in Leytonstone and one each in Hoxton and Ealing.
Blackmore Group chief executive Phillip Nunn said: “Ricky is a respected leader in the residential investment and development sector. His appointment is a great strategic move for us – with valuable experience and expertise and the drive, energy and tenacity that’s synonymous with the Blackmore Group. He’s perfect to drive our real estate team forward as we grow and diversify.”
Poonia added: “The Blackmore Group is a forward-thinking, dynamic and innovative investment house and I’m delighted to join them.
“Our team will have a very clear focus, strategic growth and joint ventures, as well as looking at opportunities to diversify into new sectors, such as health and social care and town centre regeneration projects. I’m bringing many years of expertise and experience on strategic investment and capital markets deals, joint ventures, underwriting and governance to The Blackmore Group, which is the UK investment house to watch.”
