CBRE has appointed a new head of its Aberdeen office.

Derren McRae has been promoted from the role of associate director to managing director.

McRae, 32, came 66^th in Property Week’s Hot 100 last month – a survey of the upcoming stars in the property industry. He joined CBRE in 2009 from Scottish retail agency Culverwell.

The counter-cyclical market in Aberdeen, driven by oil, gas and energy markets has made the Aberdeen office a crucial part of CBRE’s UK business in recent years.

CBRE bought the office in 2008 when it was Paul Gee & Co. Gee, the former managing director of the business, is still working at the office on a consultancy basis.
