A trio of former JLL agents have formed a new department focused on the out-of-town sector at niche firm KLM Retail.
Will Andrews, Jonny Perkins and Mark Smith, who worked together at JLL for more than six years and were all at King Sturge before that, resigned in March. At the time, it was reported that they were planning to set up their own firm.
Their decision to join KLM will significantly enhance the firm’s standing in the out-of-town retail sector.
“This is an exciting time of growth for KLM Retail. Will, Mark and Jonny are industry experts and their addition significantly strengthens our offering by combining our existing expertise with their experience and contacts,” said Mark Bennett, partner at KLM Retail.
Andrews added: “We are delighted to be setting up our team with KLM Retail - it is a business we have long admired for its niche focus, strong personnel and dedication to client care. We are confident our offering will provide our clients with the very best retail and leisure solutions in the marketplace.”
Andrews led the out-of-town retail and leisure team at JLL for 10 years and was an equity partner at King Sturge before that.
Smith headed the restaurant and leisure group at JLL, focusing predominantly on investment, and Perkins acted as a specialist investment agent in the out-of-town sector, heading up the retail warehouse operation.
Between them, the trio have advised on the acquisition, disposal, forward funding and sale-and-leaseback of more than £3bn of assets over the past three years.
Following their resignation earlier this year, Tim Vallance, JLL’s lead director, retail and leisure, said the firm would “continue to invest in our best-in-class retail business”.
KLM Retail has been trading for 27 years, and is based out of offices on Regent Street. Last year it rebranded, changing its name from Kitchen La Frenais Morgan.
