The heads of Hong Kong’s largest property company, Thomas and Raymond Kwok, have been charged with bribery offences by Hong Kong’s Independent Commission Against Corruption agency (ICAC), it was announced today.
The offences, including conspiracy to commit misconduct in public office and furnishing false information on an invoice for settlement of consultancy fees, allegedly took place between June 2000 and January 2009.
The billionaire brothers, who run Sun Hung Kai Properties, have been charged alongside two other businessmen and a former chief secretary of the Hong Kong Government and are due to appear in court today.
The case arose from a corruption complaint, after which subsequent ICAC enquiries revealed the alleged offences. The brothers were originally arrested back in March.
The defendants have been released on ICAC bail, pending their court appearance this afternoon.
