Montagu Evans has announced that its former planning and development partner Gary Forster died last Sunday following a battle with cancer.
Forster started his career at Westminster City Council before moving to Hillier Parker (now CBRE) and then Turleys. He joined Montagu Evans in February 2015.
Montagu Evans said that Forster’s contribution to the growth of the firm’s planning practice was “immediate and material”, adding: “We have been touched by the tributes received from his friends, colleagues and clients.”
Over the course of his career, Forster acted for many of the country’s leading developers, institutions and occupiers, including British Land, Hammerson and Sainsbury’s.
Most recently, he acted for The Crown Estate on its joint venture (JV) with TH Real Estate on the Princesshay leisure project and on the Land Securities/Crown Estate JV at Westgate Oxford.
Forster leaves behind his wife, Vanessa, and three sons. A funeral and memorial service will be arranged.
‘Exceptional individual’
Montagu Evans managing partner Rob Bower said: “After a brave battle with cancer, our dear colleague and friend Gary Forster passed away on 9 July 2017. Gary was an exceptional individual with a real eye for detail and a wealth of industry knowledge and experience.
“He was well known, much respected and liked throughout the property industry and particularly amongst his friends and colleagues at Montagu Evans. In his short time with us, he was a role model to many for his professional and positive approach.
“Our thoughts are with his loving wife Vanessa and three boys at this most difficult time.”
