Macmillan starts a new chapter at Kings Cross

Henderson Global Investors and Istithmar P&O Estates have let the final phase of their Regent Quarter Development in London’s King’s Cross.

As revealed by Property Week, publisher Macmillan has signed for two office buildings being developed in the final phase, totalling 82,500 sq ft. Additionally, Macmillan will take on a small restaurant and four apartments.

The publisher will pay a headline rent of £45/sq ft on separate 15-year leases.

It is leasing the offices in order to expand its London operations, and in order to relocate staff from Basingstoke and Oxford to the capital.

The final phase of Regent Quarter comprises an office building totalling 75,250 sq ft, the restoration of a Grade II listed building to provide studio offices and retail totalling 7,300 sq ft and 39 apartments.

Construction of the project is underway and the buildings are due to be completed in phases during 2013.
