Albert Embankment scheme gets the green light

Berkeley’s St James plans for a residential development on the site of Eastbury House on Albert Embankment have been approved by Lambeth council.

The Rogers Stirk Harbour-designed development was approved by Lambeth’s planning applications committee.

The existing Eastbury House will be demolished to make way for a 12, 21, and 28 storey residential led scheme. The development will comprise 48 residential units, retail and café use at ground floor level together with a new public space and around 9000 sq ft of office space. 29% of the residential scheme, or around 14 units will be affordable.

The 1960s Eastbury House is currently occupied by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and HM Treasury.

The site sits in the Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea Opportunity Area, which includes the development of the US Embassy and Battersea Power Station.
