The administrators to Clinton Cards today announced the closure of 43 stores not included in the sale of the company to a subsidiary of US card retailer and wholesaler American Greetings.
American Greetings yesterday completed a deal to buy collapsed retailer Clinton Cards, which went into administration on 9 May, via a subsidiary called Lakeshore Lending.
The company has acquired 397 of the chain’s 770 stores, which will be operated by US group Schurman Retail.
Administrator Zolfo Cooper retains the remaining 350 stores – deemed to be ‘at risk’ of closure – and already closed 44 of those last month. Today, it has published a list of a further 43 stores that will close with immediate effect.
