Developer Quinn Estates is set to submit a planning proposal for a £750m, 420-acre residential and commercial development in Detling, Kent.
Located near Maidstone in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Binbury Park Garden Village would deliver 1,150 homes over 82 acres of land, with the potential to deliver up to 1,700 homes if significant highway infrastructure improvements were made along the A249 corridor.
Some 27 acres have been ringfenced for a mixture of offices and warehouse and distribution units, and a food and drink hub. The hub would be a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility to support small, medium and large businesses within the food sector.
Facilities would include chilled and frozen units, a packaging store, a warehouse, a test kitchen and space for units from 1,000 sq ft to 3,000 sq ft.
A local centre will sit next to the residential area of the village offering amenities such as a medical and community centre, a nursery, a pub and a local shop. A primary school and sports hub are also included in the masterplan.
“Binbury Park is one of the most exciting mixed-use developments to be coming forward in the South East,” said Mark Quinn, chairman of Quinn Estates.
“It represents a unique and game-changing opportunity for Maidstone Borough Council and Kent County Council to work together with the private sector to deliver nationally significant highways, education and economic infrastructure.”
Provisions to develop a country park have been made as part of 240 acres set aside for open space. When completed, Binbury Park will sit in between the Kent Showground and industrial land occupied by Detling Aerodrome business park.
