Waitrose property director Nigel Keen will leave the John Lewis Partnership at the end of January 2018.
After 18 years with the partnership, Keen will leave to focus on growing his portfolio of consultancy and non-executive appointments.
He joined the partnership in 1999 with the brief to modernise the real estate function while developing and implementing a strategy for growth for Waitrose. The supermarket’s estate has grown from 146 branches when he joined to 352 today.
On the John Lewis side of the partnership Keen led the four-year project to rebuild the Peter Jones store and was responsible for opening 10 department stores and 14 John Lewis At Home stores.
In November 2016 Keen was appointed non-executive director at Bovis Homes.
Rob Collins, managing director, Waitrose, said: “Nigel has made an immense contribution and a positive, lasting difference to our business. I wish him every success and happiness in the next phase of his career.”
