White Company to open first US store

Fashion and homes store The White Company is set to open its first store in in the US this summer in New York.

The White Company has signed a lease at 155 Fifth Avenue. The retailer is also seeking several more locations in mall locations across the tri-state area, which consists of states of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut states.

Founded in London by Chrissie Rucker MBE, The White Company began by specialising in affordable, stylish, white, designer-quality items for the home. What started as a range of essentials for the linen cupboard – duvet covers, pillows, fitted sheets and luxury towels in timeless white – has become a full range of lifestyle products, ranging from home accessories to women’s and children’s apparel, sold online and through the company’s stores in the UK.  The White Company currently sells to the US consumer via an e-commerce site.

Robert Wingrave, managing director of London-based Time Retail Partners advised on the expansion strategy from the UK and Andrea Abrams, founder of New York-based Abrams Global advised on the entry strategy in the US. Robin Abrams, vice-chairman of New York-based The Lansco Corporation, acted as the exclusive broker for the Fifth Avenue transaction, and Marcy Kent, founder of New Jesey-based The Kent Co., is acting as the exclusive broker for mall transactions.
