You know when you see someone out of context and you just can’t remember their name?
That’s exactly how you’ll feel when you look at a novel set of Instagram pix taken to celebrate Hammerson’s 75th anniversary.
Following a trial at the Bullring, Birmingham, Hammerson decided to open up its UK shopping centres after dark to local Instagrammers so they could capture previously unseen images of the buildings. The initiative produced more than 300 images, many of which are pretty spooky, as you would expect given that the photographers decided to take advantage of the eerie atmosphere to introduce a few ghostly props and jump into each other’s shots to create a ‘haunted feel’.
They described the experience as akin to being in a zombie movie. They certainly spooked the decorators painting the windows at a H&M in the Bullring, who hadn’t expected anybody to be in the centre at 2am!
