Metropolis was surprised to see an email drop into its inbox last week highlighting a big change in the senior team at CBRE.
Apparently, Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) EMEA chief executive officer Ian Entwisle was replaced on 8 March by a hitherto unfamiliar name - one Max Young, who before Entwisle’s seat was even cold chaired his morning meeting in his place.
What on earth was going on?
It turns out it was National Apprenticeship Week and Entwisle and Young were simply swapping jobs as part of the Brathay Apprentice Challenge 2017, a national search for the Apprentice team of the year.
CBRE Global Workplace Solutions apprentice Young is currently working at the Morgan Stanley Tower in Canary Wharf and seemed to develop a taste for a different sort of high life during the job swap.
Entwisle, who himself started out as an apprentice electrician, reported that “Max did not make any concessions” to him during the day and praised his “drive and ambition”, while Young said he had gained “real insight to possibilities in my career path”.
Mmm. Sounds like someone needs to watch their back!
