MSCI has promoted Jay McNamara to global head of real estate and a member of the MSCI executive team and Ken O’Brien to head of client coverage for EMEA.
McNamara, who has been at MSCI since 2002, currently leads its client coverage in the Americas, a role in which he will be succeeded by Jeremy Baskin, who joins from AXA Rosenberg Equities.
“I’m excited to lead MSCI’s real estate business and develop the services we offer to our clients,” said McNamara. “This is truly a time of unparalleled growth in real estate investing, driven by the institutionalisation and globalisation of real estate as an asset class. We believe that as a strategic asset class, real estate belongs in the investment portfolios of institutional and private investors.”
In his new role O’Brien, who has led MSCI’s Americas real estate coverage team for the past four years, will be based in London and will assume leadership of the EMEA real estate client coverage organisation.
